Street art from Schoreditch in London.
For
twenty-five years London has been subject to a beautiful onslaught of
criminal activity, reprehensible to
some, embraced by others, colourful, witty and provocative. Street art,
phenomenon of the 1990s, developed from graffiti
art, a phenomenon of the 80s, and is today a regular occurrence on
London's streets; in some areas it is ubiquitous. The
appeal of street art includes its unpredictability, illegality, the
challenge it poses to authority, the altruism of the
street artist, and the romance and poetry of the work. Shoreditch is
uber hip area in London and anyone serious about finding art
need go no further from this funky part of British capital.
This is the epicentre of the street art scene in
the city.
